POS Supplies Needed for Success
As a new business owner who accepts credit cards, you may want to make sure you have all of the POS supplies on hand that you could possibly need. If you have the supplies on hand and make sure you keep up with it, you will never run out of the parts you need to keep your point of sale system running smoothly. When your POS system is running well, your customers will be happy and keep coming back into your store.
One of the POS supplies you will go through quite quickly is paper, more specifically paper rolls. You may think that paper rolls are easy enough, but there are actually several types of paper rolls and all types don’t work with all types of POS systems. For instance, some of the paper roll types you will find on the market are 1-ply, 2-ply, 3-ply, thermal paper, carbon paper, carbonless, colored rolls and even custom made paper rolls. You want to make sure you are choosing the correct paper roll for your POS system. If you don’t know, double check, as you don’t want to waste money and time with the wrong paper.
Other POS supplies you will need are ink, tape or ribbons in order to print receipts. Again, there are many types of ribbons and depending on the type of point of sale system you have, you may need one or two different ribbons or inks, especially if you have a separate credit card terminal. Though sometimes they will take the same printing supply, many times they won’t, so you will need to keep both types on hand if you want a quick and easy transition when your ink supply runs out.
If you want some optional POS supplies, you may want to consider getting some cleaning cloths for maintenance. Printing machines are notorious for getting dusty and dirty quite quickly, especially when using ink as opposed to a ribbon. If you want your credit card terminal, for instance, to last for many years to come, you definitely should have some cleaning cards or wipes on hand to take care of any maintenance issues.
Other POS supplies you may need to order are decals for your credit card terminal. For instance, you want to make your customers aware of your ability to accept credit cards. You will probably want to have decals for your point of sale system as well as for the entrance to your store, especially if it is a store front on a street where people may walk by.
Having enough POS supplies on hand can really make your business run more smoothly and effortlessly. Many businesses set up a storage area so they can buy their supplies in bulk, saving them money and time. You may also be able to save money on your supplies by having a good relationship with your supplier or by working with a supplier who has a relationship with your payment processor. The more money you can save on supplies, the more profit you will show at the end of the day.
