Hello, my name is Matt Crawford and I'm with Quantum Merchant Services and today I'm going to take a few minutes and talk about card Processing. What do we mean when we talk about card Processing? What's required for card Processing? Those will be the two main topics we'll be discussing today.

When we talk about card Processing, what we mean is the ability for merchants to accept credit card payments via their website. And important distinction needs to be made here, or an important point that needs to be emphasized. When we're talking about card Processing, we're talking about the credit card information being inputted by the card holder. So there is no requirement for the merchant to be involved. These means payments can be processed in the middle of the night. This means payments can be processed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Now what is required if you wish to do card processing? The first requirement is a website that is where the credit card information will be captured. It is that website that typically sells your product or surfaces. The second requirement is a payment gateway. Think about any retail environment where sitting on the counter there is a sales device. We don't have the ability in a virtual environment or web based environment to provide a sales device. So what we provided instead is a payment gateway. That payment gateway captures that credit card information that again, is inputted in by the card holder. It sends that information of to be authorized or sends that information off to be validated. Is there available credit? Is the card in good standing? It receives that information from the credit card processer and it proceeds with the sale. So again, we need a website, we need a payment gateway and occasionally we will need a shopping cart. A shopping cart is typically used for much large or more sophisticated websites. But in terms of bare basic requirements to do card processing, you need a website, you need a payment gateway.
