And in doing so, we are going to give you just a general definition of a Credit Terminal, give you some background information. We are going to go to any specific of two different types of Terminal, you have the Wired Terminal and Wireless Terminal. In regard to the definition of Credit Terminal, basically a Credit Terminal is an electronic device that is basically use to accept Visa and MasterCard, credit and debit card transaction.
The Credit Terminal and how the transaction works. You should start with Credit Terminal is that , the card is swipe through the card machine through the terminal card reader or the card information is actually keyed in or typed in to the terminal on the terminal pin pad. The credit Terminal also gives the merchant the ability to actually issue and accept gift cards. Also provide the merchant the ability to do check verification and actually process check payments as well.
As far as the two types of Credit Terminals, you have your wired and wireless. Specifically with your wired terminals, you can either connect the terminal either with a regular telephone line or with a internet or Ethernet connection. The terminal that is connected with the internet is mostly recommended for quick service or quick style businesses like a restaurants, convenience stores or retail operates. The benefit of the wired internet terminal is that the process in time usually occur in less than 2 seconds very fast, very quick. Now as far as the phone connected wired terminal, that usually best suited for businesses where the internet is not available to the merchant or maybe the demand or the need of process transaction is not apparent, it doesn't really matter on how fast it takes actually to process the transaction.
In regards to the wireless terminal, you have your long range and your short range. The wireless terminal tend to be the more popular terminal where a lot of merchants are asking for these days. With the long range terminals pretty much works as a cellular phone. You can take it anywhere with you, you being the business owner if you want to go to your customer's place of business, you want to be able to sale your product and service outside your place of business, the long range wireless terminal is best for someone such as yourself. The short range wireless terminal work pretty much like a laptop computer connected to a WiFi connection. The short range terminal only works within that range of the WiFi network. So, if you can think about a short range wireless terminal, you may have seen it when you've gone to your favorite restaurant and you are ready to make your payment, instead of maybe handling your waitress or waiter your card or having to go to the front register the terminal is actually brought to you and you can conduct your transaction that way. that's the best setting for the wireless, for the short range wireless terminal. So, with our merchant 101 series, this is just the basics regarding the credit terminal Thank you.
