Wireless Terminal
Video Transcription
Good day, my name is Matt Crawford and I'm here with Quantum Merchant Services to spend a few moments talking about wireless terminal. What do we mean by a "wireless terminal"? How can a wireless terminal help your business?
Before we talk about the "how" it can help your business, let's take a moment to talk about what a wireless terminal is. A wireless terminal quite simply, is a device that does not need to be attached to power source or a phone line in order to do Visa, MasterCard or Debit transactions. It's a device that is completely portable. There are typically two versions of a wireless terminal; version number one is a short ranged device. This is the device that works over a Wi-Fi network or connects to a base via Bluetooth. These types of solutions are most commonly used in restaurants where they're looking for a pay at the table solution, where they're looking to allow their customers to make a Visa, Debit or Interac payment without having them get up from their seats, the payment terminal comes to them.
The second version of the device is a long ranged device. With the long range device, it works off the cellular network. So in essence, anywhere you can get cellular coverage, you can use this terminal. That gives it tremendous advantage, flexibility whatever word you chose to merchants who need a portable solution. It might be tradespeople; it might be people who do trade shows, it might be tow truck drivers, delivery people, taxies, we are only really limited by our imagination. In fact, I once worked with a merchant who wanted a wireless terminal because they had a property management company and they were going to take that device to the various apartment buildings they had and allow people to come to the superintendent's office and make their rent payment using their credit card or a debit card.
So, this term, wireless terminal is really a terminal that is very broad and needs to be defined a little bit further, when you hear this term, you really should be thinking about if a short range solution could help my business or be a long range terminal solution that could help my business. It's a solution that frees you up from all the cords and the tangled mess that becomes the standalone terminal, a change that ultimately helps your business grow and benefits your customers.
Thank you.
